Adding Stops Inline During Trip Planning

Overview

This module covers how to insert a stop within an existing trip segment using the inline add-stop feature. This enhancement saves time and improves accuracy by placing stops exactly where they belong—without needing manual reordering.

1. Purpose of Inline Stop Insertion

Use inline stop insertion to:

  • Modify existing trips in response to mid-planning updates

  • Add spontaneous or requested detours (e.g., adding a sightseeing stop)

  • Maintain the correct sequence of stops without manual rearrangement

2. Scenario Example

Use Case:

A high school group is headed to Six Flags, but calls to request a stop at the Basketball Hall of Fame before arrival.

Previously, users had to:

  • Click “Add a Stop”

  • Have the stop appear at the bottom

  • Manually move the stop into the correct order using arrows

Now, users can insert a stop exactly where they want using a plus icon between stops.

3. How to Add a Stop Inline

Step-by-Step Instructions:

4. Example Workflow

Initial Trip:

  • Depart school

  • Arrive at Six Flags

Modified Trip After Insertion:

  • Depart school

  • Arrive at Basketball Hall of Fame (new stop inserted inline)

  • Arrive at Six Flags

5. Benefits of This Feature

  • Efficiency: No need to reorder stops manually.

  • Accuracy: Maintains correct sequence of travel.

  • Flexibility: Supports quick client-driven itinerary changes.

Best Practices

  • Always review stop times for proper chronological flow.

  • Use clear naming for inserted stops.

  • Communicate changes to dispatch and driver teams as needed.
