This module explains how to build and manage two one-way trips (e.g., drop-off and return airport transfers) within a single quote in OpsDriver—ensuring customers are billed accurately and not charged for vehicle downtime between segments.
A group needs:
A one-way drop-off at the airport on May 15
A one-way pickup four days later on May 19
The goal is to quote both legs in the same quote without the system interpreting it as a multi-day trip, which would incorrectly calculate pricing for all five days.
Create a new quote
Build the first variation:
Example: Pickup from high school → drop-off at the airport on May 15
End the route by returning the bus to the yard
This variation represents the outbound airport transfer.
In the quote, click New Variation
Do not click “Copy Variation” unless you want to duplicate the route
Set up a new route with:
Pickup from the airport → drop-off at the high school on May 19
Complete the route with a return to the yard
This second variation now represents the return airport transfer.
You should now see:
Variation 1: May 15 – School → Airport (1-way)
Variation 2: May 19 – Airport → School (1-way)
Each variation:
Has its own date
Has its own trip summary and stops
Uses the same contact and is part of the same quote
When the customer is ready to proceed:
Click Convert to Booking
The system will prompt you to select the variations to include
Select both variations
Confirm the:
Contact
Salesperson
Pricing for each leg
Click Create Booking
The system creates a single booking with two separate routes:
Route 1: May 15 (Outbound)
Route 2: May 19 (Return)
The vehicle is not assumed to be in use between those dates, preventing incorrect multi-day billing
This approach avoids overcharging for idle days
Always use “New Variation” for distinctly timed one-way trips
Label each variation clearly (e.g., “Outbound Airport Transfer” / “Return from Airport”)
Confirm route dates to prevent overlap or mispricing
Educate customers on why both variations are part of one quote but priced separately
