Making changes to published dispatches

Updating published dispatches

Adjusting Published Assignments

Overview

This module covers how to update details on an already published dispatch and ensure your assigned driver is automatically notified and provided with an updated work ticket.

1. Purpose of Adjusting Published Assignments

Use this feature when:

  • Trip details change (e.g., updated pickup time)

  • You need to ensure the driver receives the most current instructions

  • You want to avoid republishing or manual communication

OpsDriver’s built-in notification system handles all driver updates automatically when changes are made post-publication.

2. Publishing a Dispatch

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Create and assign a dispatch as usual.

  2. Click Publish.

  3. Once published, the assigned driver will see a yellow block on their Driver Portal calendar for that date.

  4. The driver can:

    • View trip info

    • Accept the assignment

    • Check in

    • See extra instructions

    • View and print the work ticket

3. Making a Change to a Published Dispatch

Scenario Example:

The customer calls to adjust pickup time from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Open the booking and click Edit Segments.

  2. Adjust the time (e.g., change from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM).

  3. Click Save.

  4. A modal will automatically appear asking:

“Would you like to notify the assigned driver of the updated dispatch?”

4. Sending the Updated Work Ticket

In the Notification Modal:

  • Confirm you want to send the update.

  • OpsDriver will:

    • Pull the driver’s email from their profile

    • Generate an updated work ticket

    • Email the revised ticket to the driver

Driver Experience:

  • Driver receives an email with the updated trip info.

  • When refreshing their Driver Portal, the new start time (e.g., 11:00 AM) is visible.

5. Key Benefits

  • No need to republish or manually call the driver

  • Automatic communication of changes via updated work ticket

  • Ensures your team stays synced in real-time

Best Practices

  • Always review the modal for confirmation before sending

  • Ensure driver email addresses are up to date in their profiles

  • Use this feature for any timing or instruction changes—small or large
