Creating and Managing Tour Discount Codes

Overview

This module explains how to create, configure, and assign discount codes for tours using the TourDriver module. These codes can be percentage- or dollar-based and are used to offer promotional or targeted pricing.

1. Accessing the Discount Code Settings

Steps:

1. Navigate to the Tours header

2. Click on the new Discount Codes section

This opens the management screen where you can view existing discounts or create new ones.

2. Creating a New Discount Code

Steps:

1. Click Create New Discount Code

2. Fill out the form:

   • Name: Internal reference (e.g., “Spring Break Promo”)

   • Code: The text customers will enter (e.g., SPRING2024)

   • Description: Clarify the discount’s purpose (e.g., “10% off all March tours”)

3. Choosing the Discount Type

Select from two discount types:

• Percentage (e.g., 10% off)

• Flat dollar amount (e.g., $15 off)

Enter the value associated with the discount type.

Example: A “10%” selection with a ticket total of $100 would reduce the price to $90.

4. Applying Discount Codes to Tours

Once the discount is created:

1. Go to the Tour section

2. Select the tour you want to apply the discount to

3. Assign the appropriate discount code from the dropdown or discount settings area

Now when customers book this tour, they can enter the code at checkout to receive the discount.

5. Customer Experience

On the booking portal:

• Customers see a field to enter discount codes

• Once applied, the discount reflects in the summary and payment total

Best Practices

• Keep code names short and easy to remember

• Use the description field to clarify internal use

• Set specific time windows for seasonal or one-time offers

• Avoid stacking discounts unless explicitly allowed
