Creating and Using Discount Codes



Overview

This module explains how to create promotional or conditional discount codes in OpsDriver and apply them to quotes and bookings. These codes help streamline promotions, loyalty incentives, and custom pricing strategies.


1. Accessing the Discount Dashboard


Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Go to Sales > Discount Codes.

  2. You’ll land on the Discount Dashboard where existing codes are listed.

  3. Click Add Discount Code in the top right to create a new one.


2. Creating a New Discount Code


Fill out the Discount Detail Page as follows:


Basic Fields:

  • Name: Internal name for the discount

  • Code: The actual code a customer will enter (e.g., 10OFF!)

  • Description (optional): Notes for internal reference


Discount Type:

  • Choose what the discount applies to:

    • Entire trip total

    • Vehicles

    • Add-ons

    • Specific vehicle types


Start & End Date:

  • Define when the code can be used (e.g., May 10–May 24).


Optional Controls:

  • Max Discount Amount: Cap the dollar value of the discount

  • Min Price Requirement: Only apply to bookings over a certain total

  • Max Number of Uses: Limit how many times the code can be used

  • Allow Combination with Other Codes: Toggle on/off

  • Category: Tag the discount for promotions, seasonal use, etc.

  • Valid Trip Dates: Dates the actual trip must occur

  • Valid Days of the Week: Restrict to certain days (e.g., weekdays only)


Final Step:

  • Enter the Discount Value (e.g., 10%).

  • Click Save to activate the code.


3. Applying a Discount Code to a Quote


Instructions:

  1. Open a quote.

  2. Scroll to the Vehicle & Add-On section.

  3. Click Add Discount.

  4. Select the relevant code from the dropdown.

  5. Click Save.


The system will calculate the discount and display it alongside the quote total.


4. Applying a Discount Code to a Booking


To apply a discount to a confirmed booking:

  1. Click into the route on the booking.

  2. Scroll to Discounts.

  3. Add the desired code and save.


5. Real-Time Pricing Example


For example:

  • Trip Total: $1,982.40

  • Code: 10OFF! (10% discount)

  • Discount Applied: $198.24

  • New Total: $1,784.16


6. Tracking Code Usage


Once the discount is in use, you can:

  • View trips using the code at the bottom of the code detail page

  • Monitor effectiveness of promotions


Best Practices

  • Use short, memorable discount codes

  • Clearly communicate expiration dates and restrictions

  • Combine with customer groups for targeted campaigns
