This module explains how to use TBN’s proprietary fee engine to create add-ons that are either:
Included by default (but optional), or
Required (non-editable by the customer)
These features help you control pricing consistency and transparently communicate what fees are part of the trip.
Go to the Add-Ons section under Company Setup.
Click Create New Add-On.
Enter a Display Name for the fee (e.g., “Driver Gratuity”).
Choose a Price Type:
Flat Fee
Percentage
Per Mile
Per Mile Per Vehicle
User Defined Percentage (customer enters their own amount)
Choose User Defined Percentage as the Price Type.
In the description, enter a recommendation (e.g., “We suggest a gratuity of 15%”).
Set the Add-On Type to:
Included by default, but customer can change or opt out
Enter a Default Value (e.g., 15).
Click Save.
The add-on will appear on the booking widget’s add-ons page as pre-selected.
Customers can increase, decrease, or remove the gratuity based on preference.
Create a new Add-On (e.g., “Fuel Surcharge”).
Choose Per Mile Per Vehicle as the Price Type.
This will charge a set amount for each mile and each vehicle used in the trip.
Set the Add-On Type to:
Included by default and required
Do not enter a default value for the customer—this is controlled by your company.
Click Save.
This fee will be locked and unchangeable.
The customer will see the fee applied automatically and must accept it to complete the quote request.
Included (optional) fees appear with a default value that customers can change.
Required fees are non-editable and will be automatically calculated into the final quote.
Both types are totaled at checkout and reflected in the Add-On Summary.
Example:
If a quote includes a 15% gratuity and a per-mile fuel surcharge, the customer will see both listed, with clear indicators of which are optional and which are required.
Use included but optional fees for things like gratuity, Wi-Fi, bottled water, or other customer-service items.
Use required fees for items like fuel surcharges, toll recovery, or regulatory fees.
Clearly label and describe each fee to reduce confusion and increase trust in pricing transparency.
