This module explains how to set up seat maps in OpsDriver. Seat mapping allows you to define the layout of a vehicle and apply it to tours, enabling seat assignments for passengers. It’s especially useful for tour functionality or scheduled service.
Go to Company Setup
Click on Vehicles
Navigate to Vehicle Types
Select the vehicle type you want to configure (e.g., “56 Passenger Motor Coach”)
Once inside the vehicle type settings:
Scroll to the bottom of the page
You’ll see the Seat Mapping section
Click the name of the seat map (e.g., “Standard 56 Passenger”)
Click Create New Seat Mapping
Enter a name (e.g., “55-Passenger – 1 Seat Unavailable”)
Use the interface to:
Add rows (rows are added in reverse order, from back to front)
Assign seat numbers per row
Mark unavailable or missing seats as needed
Once seat mapping is configured:
It can be applied to TourDriver events or any vehicle-driven trip where passenger seat assignment is enabled
The system will:
Use the seat map layout when assigning seats during booking
Prevent double-booking of seats
Display the seat layout for dispatch and customer-facing documents
You can create multiple maps for the same vehicle type. Use cases include:
Special layouts for school groups vs. adult tours
Minor vehicle differences (e.g., 55-seat layout due to maintenance or ADA compliance)
Select the appropriate seat map when building a tour or booking based on the assigned vehicle.
Name your seat maps clearly (include passenger count or purpose)
Use default maps for consistency across tours unless a trip requires a custom setup
Review seat maps regularly to reflect changes in fleet layout or vehicle upgrades
