It is important to note that the "Addon by Dispatch" report will report the total driver gratuity for a particular Booking. If your booking involves multiple routes or dispatches, please keep in mind that the gratuity amount in the report represents the overall sum for the entire booking, not the specific amount for each driver. The user will need to decide how that gratuity should be split amongst the assigned drivers on the individual dispatches.
Overview
This module walks through how to set up driver gratuities as an add-on, make them available to customers, and report on gratuities owed to drivers through the Dispatch Add-On Report in OpsDriver.
1. Setting Up a Gratuity Add-On
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Go to Company Setup > Add-On Types
Click Create New Add-On (or edit an existing one)
Set the following values:
Price Type: User Defined
This allows the customer to enter their own gratuity amount.
Visibility: Do not hide from customer view
This ensures the gratuity shows in the quote widget and booking screens.
Default Behavior: Include by default (but allow customers to change or opt out)
Default Value: Set to a suggested 10% of the trip
Description: Use helpful language, e.g.
“Gratuities are not included in the cost. Customary for a job well done.”
Save the add-on.
2. Gratuity in the Booking Process
Once the add-on is created:
It will automatically appear on customer quotes via the quote widget
Customers can adjust or remove the gratuity at their discretion
Bookings created by sales reps can manually add or adjust the gratuity as needed
This makes gratuities visible, optional, and pre-configured for a smooth experience.
3. Tracking Gratuities Owed to Drivers
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Go to Reports > Dispatch > Add-Ons by Dispatch
Use the filter tool to:
Select Add-On Type: Driver Gratuity
Choose Departure Date Range or Return Date Range as appropriate
The report will show:
Booking ID
Gratuity amount
Assigned driver(s)
Example:
Booking #410 — Driver: Adam Bell — Gratuity: $34.50
Export the report to Excel to create a summary payout sheet by driver.
4. Key Benefits
Transparent gratuity collection process
Optional for customers, but encouraged by default
Full reporting visibility by trip and driver
Supports accurate driver compensation for gratuities received
Best Practices
Clearly explain gratuities on quotes and invoices
Use a default 10% value as a suggestion—not a requirement
Run the gratuity report weekly or by pay period for accuracy
Confirm gratuities are only paid out when the trip is completed and dispatched
