Vehicle Type Settings and how they show in the booking widget

How vehicle type settings show in the booking widget

Overview

This module explains how to configure vehicle type settings to control what customers see in the SalesDriver Booking Widget. These settings impact the vehicle display name, amenities, pricing cues, photos, and descriptions.

1. Accessing Vehicle Settings

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Company Setup > Vehicle Types.

  2. Select the vehicle type you want to manage.

  3. Click Edit to modify the display and widget-related settings.

2. Setting the Display Name, Capacity, and Price Indicator

  • Vehicle Display Name: This is what the customer will see in the widget.

  • Capacity: Indicates the number of passengers the vehicle can hold.

  • Price Indicator: Set as:

    • $ = Low

    • $$ = Medium

    • $$$ = High

The price indicator gives customers a general sense of how this vehicle compares to others before receiving an actual quote.

3. Configuring Amenities for Display

  • Check the boxes for common amenities available in this vehicle type (e.g., Wi-Fi, outlets, restrooms).

  • These selections control which icons are shown in the widget.

It’s best to select amenities that are most commonly available for each vehicle type to avoid setting incorrect customer expectations.

4. Adding Images and Descriptions

You can enhance the customer experience by:

  • Uploading up to 3 images per vehicle type

  • Adding a long description to explain:

    • Vehicle features

    • Ideal uses (e.g., “Perfect for corporate groups or cross-state travel”)

    • Any selling points

These appear when the customer clicks More Info in the widget.

5. Hiding a Vehicle from the Booking Widget

To prevent a vehicle from showing in the widget:

  1. Open the vehicle type in the Vehicle Types list.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Check the box for Hide from customer view.

Result:

  • The vehicle type will not appear in the widget.

  • It will remain available for internal dispatch or manual quotes.

This is useful for:

  • Internal-use-only vehicles

  • Vehicles under maintenance

  • Specialty vehicles not available for general quoting

Best Practices

  • Keep vehicle descriptions updated with seasonal or event-specific info.

  • Only include amenities that are reliably present in the vehicle category.

  • Use high-quality images that reflect your brand and fleet quality.

  • Use the “hide” setting for vehicles not ready for customer use or reserved for affiliates.
